After working and living in Seattle and, briefly, New York City for the past seven years, I accepted a full-time position as a public librarian in Butte, Montana in July 2010, and the last five months have been the definition of “busy” – as the holidays approach, I’m grappling with creating programming for my patrons and promoting the library to every person (un)lucky enough to spend more than 30 seconds in my presence. As if that weren’t enough, the library flooded on November 29th, 2010 and we opened a new branch in the mall to continue services while the main building is under repair. Whew! It’s a great gig for an outgoing, energetic gal like myself, and Butte is a wonderful place to live.
